Cheney demands Obama release CIA memos showing success of terrorist interrogations

They put out the legal “torture” (/not) memos, but they didn’t put out the memos that showed the success of the effort. So what is Obama’s motive? Why would he release the CIA memos but not the intel that was gleaned and the lives saved?

Who is Barack Hussein Obama and why would he do this?

He said: “We have been through a dark and painful chapter in our history”. Apparently not.

Releasing the memos was clearly the act of an America hater. It only serves to hurt the country, our security and our standing. But not releasing how successful these techniques were, at a time when this country didn’t know if the next attack (911) was imminent, is sinister.

Releasing memos to make us look bad but not the good it did? Evil.

Dick Cheney:
“One of the things I find distubing about this recent disclosure  ….. is they put out the legal memos but they didn’t put out the memos that show the success of the effort. There are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity.”I have now  formally asked that they be declassified now”

“They are not telling the whole story”. “If you’re going to have this debate, let’s have an honest debate”.

Indeed.

UPDATE: CIA must uphold American values, Obama urges. What does he know about American values? They waterboarded the mastermind behind 911. Who cares? He should have been executed. (hat tip Jane)

They also revealed, for the first time, that interrogators used the tactic of waterboarding — in which water is poured over a prisoner’s covered head to simulate drowning — 266 times on two senior al-Qaeda operatives.

The two men were Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the self-described planner of the 9/11 tactics, and Abu Zubaydah, believed to be one of al-Qaeda’s top recruiters.

Mr. Obama signed an executive order in January outlawing the harsh techniques, which his attorney general and human rights groups describe as torture, and closing the CIA’s secret overseas prisons.

Fox News reporter Steve Garrigan underwent waterboarding to show what it is really like (video here).

Mr. Obama told employees at the Central Intelligence Agency the U.S. has a moral duty to adhere to the rule of law.

The morally bankrupt speaketh.

“I’m sure that sometimes it seems as if that means we’re operating with one hand tied behind our back, or that those who would argue for a higher standard are naive. I understand that,” Mr. Obama told CIA staff at the agency’s headquarters in Langley, Va.

Hogtied.

UPDATE: Over at the left-fascist blog, Think Progress:

Feinstein to Obama: Torture prosecutions should still be on the table (hat tip Lane)

The New York Times’ Peter Baker and Scott Shane report that, yesterday, aides to Obama “did not rule out legal sanctions for the Bush lawyers who developed the legal basis for the use of the techniques.”

There it is.
