President meets with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia

“I have Muslim members of my family. I have lived in Muslim countries.”  ‘Now, it’s okay to talk about his Muslim connections?’

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (CNN) — President Obama, on the first leg of a Mideast trip, said Wednesday that he is confident the United States and Saudi Arabia can “make progress on a whole host of issues of mutual interest.”

Shortly after his arrival Wednesday in Saudi Arabia, Obama and King Abdullah went to the Saudi ruler’s farm for a welcoming reception. The two leaders met privately afterward.

Obama said he was “struck by his wisdom and his graciousness. Obviously the United States and Saudi Arabia have a long history of friendship. We have a strategic relationship.”  (read more)

Obama’s World Apology Tour: Today’s Stop — Cairo, Egypt!

June 04, 2009

RIGHT WING NEWS is reporting….

Obama obviously timed his speech in Cairo (2 PM local time) to minimize the number of people in the states who might be tuning in live to see it in the States (before 8 AM). That was a good move given the alarming naivete that was on display from the man who’s supposed to be the leader of the free world.

On the one hand, you have to give Obama some credit for doing the speech. It’s nice to see the effort to reach out to the Muslim world — but, the weakness and foolishness of Barack Obama is more likely to embolden our enemies than it is to hearten the friends this country already has in the Muslim world.

President Obama speaking in Cairo, Egypt

Gary Bauer had this to say about the outrageous speech to the Muslim world by President Obama :

The Cairo Deception

It was tough to begin this day by watching President Obama destroy history, undermine Israel and bow, this time rhetorically, to Islam during his speech at Cairo University. Below are some examples and my reactions.

OBAMA: “…America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”

REACTION: Tolerance? Dignity? Islamic countries dominate the list of top human rights violators in the world. Throughout much of the Middle East, Christians live in fear and Jews can’t live at all.

OBAMA: “I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America’s story. …And when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers – Thomas Jefferson – kept in his personal library.”

REACTION: Nice try, Mr. President. Thomas Jefferson kept a copy of the Koran at least in part because he wanted to understand what part Islam played in motivating the jihadists of his age – the so called Barbary pirates – in America’s first encounter with Islam and the first time we sent troops into combat overseas.

OBAMA: “Given our interdependence, any world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will inevitably fail.”

REACTION: Thank you, President Obama, for that clear statement of cultural and moral relativism that infects so many of our elites and obviously shapes the way you deal with the world. So you want a world order, where no nation or group is elevated over another, where America is to be considered no better than North Korea, Syria, or Iran. All cultures and nations are not equal. Some believe in liberty and the dignity of individuals. Some believe people are cattle to be herded by government. That you don’t understand that your own nation is preferable and better than the thug states of the world is tragic and dangerous. How I long for the days when President Reagan regularly reminded us that we were to be a “shining city upon a hill.”

OBAMA: “On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people – Muslims and Christians – have suffered in pursuit of a homeland. For more than sixty years they have endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead.

REACTION: The president here repeats a central tenet of Palestinian propaganda. Israel did not evict Muslim Palestinians – Arab League nations ordered them to leave. Nearly 20% of Israel today is Muslim. Nowhere does the president mention the Jewish refugees forced to flee to Israel. Nor did he mention that it is Arab Muslim countries that keep Palestinians in refugee camps rather than inviting and integrating them into their own countries.

OBAMA: “All of us have a responsibility to work for the day … when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians and Muslims, and a place for all of the children of Abraham to mingle peacefully together.”

REACTION: Don’t miss the significance of this statement. Here Obama is calling for turning Jerusalem, which has always been home for Jews, into an international city under control of who? The U.N.? The E.U.? All religions have access to Jerusalem now, because Israel, unlike its neighbors, is tolerant.

OBAMA: “That is why we are forging service projects in America that bring together Christians, Muslims, and Jews. That is why we welcome efforts like Saudi Arabian King Abdullah’s interfaith dialogue and Turkey’s leadership in the Alliance of Civilizations.”

REACTION: Yet another big wet kiss from the president for King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, a country that will not permit a Bible to be displayed nor allow an infidel to set foot in its “holy” cities.

OBAMA: “Hamas does have support among some Palestinians, but they also have responsibilities. To play a role in fulfilling Palestinian aspirations, and to unify the Palestinian people, Hamas must put an end to violence, recognize past agreements, and recognize Israel’s right to exist.”

REACTION: Here the president extends an olive branch to one of the most bloodthirsty terror groups in the Middle East. The only “aspiration” Hamas is interested in fulfilling is the destruction of Israel and the eviction of the U.S. from the Middle East. And notice when the president says that Hamas must recognize Israel’s right to exist, he very tellingly leaves off the most important phrase “as a Jewish state.” Hamas will never recognize the right of Jews to have one nation.

Next: Obama In Dresden

June 8, 2009

“On his third stop of the World Apology Tour, President Obama has chosen a stop in Dresden, Germany.  Just as his great uncle, Charles Payne stated, ‘this choice is purely political.’  It seems that Obama has contempt for everything that his country has done….”

The New Clarion reports

There is almost an artistic selectivity to how bad a president Barack Obama is. If a fiction writer wanted to create a portrait of an altruist-collectivist-statist lefty in the White House, he could do little better than to copy the real life choices Obama has made.

Now in addition to everything else, Obama has quietly disavowed America’s strategy in fighting World War II. Of course, he doesn’t come out and state his opposition clearly — he is too shrewd a politician to set himself up for that kind of criticism. Like Bill Clinton, Obama knows that Democrats have to appear strong on defense — or at least muddy the issue enough that their courtier press can evade the issue — or else they get clobbered in elections. But his symbolic actions in Dresden were not lost on the Germans, and no doubt they are not lost on our enemies.

John Rosenthal writes,

Dresden was the target of heavy Allied bombing in February 1945 and much of the city was destroyed in the attacks. Neo-Nazis make an annual pilgrimage to the city to commemorate the event, the most famous episode in what they describe as a “bombing Holocaust.” But the notion that the Allied raids constituted a “crime” against Germans and Germany is by no means the reserve of Nazis. It has, in the meanwhile, become part of the German mainstream.

In the run-up to Obama’s Germany visit, the White House appeared to be at pains to downplay the significance of the stop of Dresden.

I don’t know how much more of this president’s insults to his country I can take…..

President Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel

Obama did not say much about the significance of his visit. During his press conference in Dresden, he merely alluded vaguely to the “tragedies” that the city had undergone. It is interesting to note that Angela Merkel did not even go that far. She merely noted matter-of-factly that the city was “destroyed during the Second World War” and “then rebuilt.”

But as the ZDF’s Guido Knopp would note later in the day, Obama did not have to say anything. The heavily loaded symbolism of the Frauenkirche visit did the talking for him. By virtue of his visits to Buchenwald and the Frauenkirche, as Knopp put it, Obama had paid tribute to “all the victims,” i.e., both the victims of Nazi persecution and the German “victims” of the Allies. Knopp, the director of numerous popular television documentaries on the Third Reich, even mumbled something about remembering everybody’s “crimes,” thus making the assertion of moral equivalence more explicit still.

Obama kept his meaning vague enough that his fawning press can ignore it. The clear implication, though, is that bombing Dresden was immoral. This idea is common among the anti-American left Obama has run with all this life.

Obama has made it clear that there will be no all-out war on his watch. Instead of destroying any aggressive enemies as we did in WWII, Obama will appease them to some extent. At best he might fight a partial effort, as we have done in the “war of terror,” or whatever the PC name for it is now. (How about “The conflict with people who understandably have a grievance against capitalist America, and whom we would gladly shower with taxpayer dollars if they would just pretend to meet us halfway long enough to get the handouts”?)

Whether or not the media and leftists and the media want to see the meaning of Obama’s symbolism in Dresden, our enemies understand it perfectly. They know that if they get in a war with America, they don’t have to worry about Obama bombing their people. I think that would factor large in their decision making.
