Finishing a nearly year-long saga, the House of Representatives Thursday night put its finishing touches on the final health care reform bill, clearing the way for President Obama to sign the package into law.

The Senate made technical changes to the bill earlier in the day, so the House had to agree to the alterations.

The House voted 220-207 Thursday night in favor of the changes.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called the changes “benign.”

In a statement issued after the vote she said, “this legislation in place, families will have access to even more affordable care than the reform the President signed this week.”

“Tonight, the House of Representatives voted to strengthen health insurance reform, invest in our nation’s students, and secure a better future for all Americans,” Pelosi said.

President Obama said he will not sign the “fix” legislation until next week. (read more)

They did all that was possible for them to do under the circumstances with the  corrupt Democrat Senators opting for the Reconciliation procedure.  The Democrats only needed 51 votes!  The bill passed  56 to 43.
