President Obama took the opportunity last Wednesday, in Racine Wisconsin, to politicize statements made by House Minority Leader John Boehner. Boehner had stated to a newspaper that a major banking overhaul deal is like ‘killing an ant with a nuclear weapon’. Obama took those words and twisted them like he does everything else.
Leader Boehner did the right thing by not allowing the president’s attack to go unanswered. He hit Obama where it hurts – “What About The Country, Mr. President?” Boehner brought Obama’s attention back to where it should be – on jobs, the gulf coast oil spill and families struggling to stay in their homes.
That’s the way to do it. Obama has enough to concentrate on other than trying to be ‘funny’ with issues that are serious. The fact that the so-called Banking Reform Bill does not address Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac excesses is a disgrace. Those 2 agencies are the reason we had the housing/banking failure in the first place.
