23-year-old was driving on revoked license

BRISTOW, Va – Normally quiet and peaceful, the Benedictine Monastery in Bristow, Va. is now also a somber place. Three Benedictine Sisters from Richmond coming to the area for a week-long retreat were involved in a head-on collision Sunday morning. One of the nuns, Sister Denise Mosier died.

“Sister Denise had an absolutely wonderful outlook on life,” explained Sister Cecilia Dwyer, Prioress of the Monastary. “She was a very faith-filled person and she would be the first to forgive that young man.”

Prince William County Police investigators say 23-year-old Carlos Martinelly Montano of Bristow was drunk and speeding when he lost control of his Subaru Outback Sunday around 8:15 a.m. and crashed head on into the nuns’ Toyota Corolla. Martinelly Montano survived and is now charged with involuntary manslaughter and DUI – his third DUI charge in five years.

“Involuntary manslaughter means that you killed someone unintentionally, which apparently this is,” Prince William Commonwealth’s attorney Paul Ebert told FOX 5. “But his conduct may elevate this to a higher grade of homicide. That’s what we’re looking at now.”

The head-on collision occurred on the bridge over Cedar Run along Bristow Road just south of Manassas, a few miles from the monastery. Police say Sister Mosier was riding in the back seat and not wearing a seatbelt.

“I’m sure she was probably sleeping in the backseat,” said Sister Dwyer. “Because that’s what she usually did on trips so hopefully she went straight from that sleep to God’s arms.”

At the monastery, those touched by the sad news are bringing flowers and offering condolences.

Sisters Charlotte Lange and Connie Ruth Lupton were seriously injured in the crash. Sister Lange was the long-time principal of St. Gertrude’s in Richmond and a chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital. Sister Mosier was dedicated to her calling, spending eight years on a mission in Africa. She was also fun-loving.

“She was our dancer,” said Sister Dwyer. “She loved to dance. As soon as she heard music, you could see her whole body turn on. Just an extraordinary woman.”

Ebert says Martinelly Montano was in the country illegally and driving on a revoked license.

“This is the worst of the worst,” said Ebert. “Here’s somebody who absolutely disregards the laws of this country. He came here because of what we offer him and continues to thumb his nose at law enforcement. As a result, he’s going to wind up in a penitentiary for a long period of time.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say they have two cases pending against Martinelly Montano, but gave no further details.

President Obama and the ‘do-nothing’ Socialist Progressives in Congress are to blame for this tragic incident. Someone, who was serving God and helping humanity, has host her life at the hands of yet another illegal immigrant.  Her fellow Sisters were seriously injured and taken from their duties in helping those less fortunate than they.

Yes, Sister Denise would be the first to give forgiveness to Montano, and so would many of the rest of  us who are Christians.  That does not stop us from being outraged at the stubbornness shown by President Obama and the inaction of this runaway congress.

How many more will die at the hands of drunken irresponsible  individuals who happen to be in this country illegally?

It has to stop and stop NOW!

Ethics Charges Filed Against Rep. Maxine Waters

A House panel announced Monday that it has charged Rep. Maxine Waters with violating ethics rules, making her the second longtime Democratic lawmaker to have an election-season trial.

The charges against Waters, a 10-term California congresswoman, focus on whether she broke the rules in requesting federal help for a bank where her husband was a board member and owned stock. She immediately denied the charges.

The House ethics committee’s announcement comes just days after it outlined 13 charges against Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., which included failing to disclose assets and income, delayed payment of federal taxes, and improper use of a subsidized New York apartment for his campaign office.

The high-profile trials could further damage the Democratic Party’s political standing in the congressional elections this fall.

The charges against Waters, a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, were filed July 28 by a investigative panel but not announced until Monday. An eight-member subcommittee of four Democrats and four Republicans will now conduct Waters’ trial.

A year-old report by the Office of Congressional Ethics said that in September 2008, Waters asked then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to have Treasury officials meet representatives from the National Bankers Association, a trade group representing minority-owned banks.

At a meeting and subsequent follow-up activity through Waters’ office, the discussion centered on OneUnited Bank.

Waters’ husband, Sidney Williams, had been a board member of OneUnited from 2004 to 2008 and, at the time of the meeting, was a stockholder. The report said Waters may have violated House rules by having a conflict of interest.

Waters said she fully disclosed her assets as required by House rules and claims that the case against her has no merit.

She said it was the National Bankers Association that requested the meeting with Treasury Department officials and the meeting was held on behalf of the association, not OneBank.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

White House Denials Are More Scarier Than The Memos

If an employer says he has no intention of firing the “entire” workforce of a company, just how comfortable do you think the employees feel?

Well, that’s how I felt when federal officials said they have no intention of providing a backdoor amnesty to “the nation’s entire illegal immigrant population.”

nobody should mistake deliberation and exchange of ideas for final decisions.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Department of Homeland Security in response to leaked memos from the agency

This comment certainly has merit. People often write or ask for memos that just provide an idea of options. Obviously, I would feel better if DHS was not even writing down the option of giving massive numbers of amnesties without permission of Congress. Nonetheless, the fact a memo was written like that doesn’t mean that option will be taken or is even being seriously considered.

But then USCIS of the DHS seemed to undermine any reassurances by saying:

To be clear, DHS will not grant deferred action or humanitarian parole to the nation’s entire illegal immigrant population.

USCIS of the DHS

“Entire?” Entire!

So does that mean DHS is only contemplating giving these forms of amnesty to 4 million of the 10 million illegal aliens? Or 9 million?

Why the adjective?

I would have felt a lot better if USCIS had said it had no plans to grant these amnesties “to any large groups of illegal immigrants.”

It is pretty clear from the memos that these backdoor amnesties are prime possibilities for that little DREAM ActRonald Reagan’s entire blanket amnesty of 1986. (At least, Reagan’s amnesty was passed with roll call votes in Congress. ) amnesty’s intended beneficiaries. And that is 2.1 million illegal aliens — about the size

And then the White House press spokesman when forced by the media to respond to the leaked memos said:

I have not seen these memos. I don’t think they’ve circulated a lot through this White House.

Robert Gibbs, White House Press Secretary

“A lot?” A lot!

So, they’ve been circulating quite a bit? Some? In the White House.

Frankly, “circulated at all in the White House” seems to suggest some level of interest at the highest level.

The whole nation owes a lot to Iowa’s Sen. Charles Grassley for his tenacity this summer in demanding responses from DHS to months of rumors about internal plans to grant amnesties without approval of Congress. His digging out and publicizing these “what if” memos has begun to provide the antiseptic of public daylight. I know our NumbersUSA members have inundated the White House, DHS and all of Congress the last two days with strong disapproval of any “executive amnesties.”

One sign that the public outcry may be starting to back off the Administration was the later comment from USCIS:

. . .memo was never signed and never made its way to its intended recipient USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas.

We don’t seem to have any proof one way or another on that, but it is a good sign that the department is doing everything it can to disassociate the director from the ideas in the memo.

I would still prefer to hear the Administration deny it is considering an administrative amnesty for any kinds of groups rather than just that it won’t do it for the entire illegal community.

Fellow Americans, it is you who have made a comprehensive amnesty bill so radioactive that congressional leaders refuse to bring it up for a vote. The only way to stop the backdoor amnesties is if you apply the same kind of pressures. The federal government has proven it will protect de facto amnesties by taking states to court that try to move illegal foreign workers out of their jobs. We don’t seem to be able to do anything to stop that federal assault on our abilities for self-determination and protection. But I think the ideas in the USCIS memos are so much farther in their assault on the limits of power on the Executive Branch that we can stop those ideas in the court of public opinion.

Obama Will Subvert U.S. Constitution To Satisfy His Agenda

This is a President Gone Wild’An administration memo surfaced outlining ways to grant legalization without going through Congress.

The draft memo, first obtained by Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley’s office from the U.S. Customs & Immigration Services, outlines ways the administration was exploring to legalize swaths of illegal immigrants “in the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform.” The memo describes how to, “reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization.”

Obama will go as far as he has to in order to carry out his destructive agenda against America.

What else is out there that we have yet to learn?  Has he become un-stoppable?

“The Federal Government Can Do Most Anything In This Country”, Says Congressman Pete Starks

When you watch this video – please look at the expression on the congressman’s  face.  He clearly does not know what the Constitution says nor does he care … like many of the Progressives in Congress.

Congressman Starks is perfect example of someone who has been in the Congress far too long.  He thinks that they can do anything.

This man earns $174,000 a year.  Unbelievable.

A Stunner! Virginia AG Rules Police Can Check Immigration Status Of Anyone They Stop Or Arrest

A Stunning Setback For Obama

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli issued the legal opinion Friday extending the authority to Virginia police in response to an inquiry over whether his state could mirror the policies passed into law in Arizona.

Virginia’s attorney general said state law enforcement officers are allowed to check the immigration status of anyone “stopped or arrested.”

But in an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren, Cuccinelli underscored that in Virginia pursuing immigration offenses is up to the officers — not required, as it is under Arizona’s controversial immigration law.

“We are not mandating to our law enforcement that they make these inquiries on every stop,” Cuccinelli said, noting that Arizona’s law requires officers to check the immigration status of anyone stopped for other reasons when there is reasonable suspicion that they are in the country illegally.  ( read full story via Breaking News | Latest News | Current News – FOXNews.com.)

This should give the Obama administration something to think about.  There are more and more states lining up with their own enhanced immigration laws to support the State of Arizona, who is being sued by the Obama administration.
