Expected Midterm Election Losses For Dems Brings President Obama’s Thuggish Roots Front And Center

President Obama’s Abuse of Power

by Herbert I. London
October 25, 2010 at 4:30 am

President Barack Obama, with massive midterm losses looming and his presidency potentially paralyzed as a result, has made the startling claim that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was accepting foreign donations to launch a campaign against him, a charge that even the NY Times – an enthusiatic Obama supporter – described as “groundless.”

Having relied on the claim of one blog, the president echoed the charge at a Maryland political rally: “So groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections,” he said,” and they won’t tell you where the money for their ads come from.”

Tom Donahue, President of U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Tom Donahue, president of the Chamber, immediately denied the accusation, explaining that strict accounting procedures keep foreign and domestic contributions separate. Remarkably, denunciation of the president’s claims spanned the political spectrum with some liberals suggesting the president “went too far” in the direction of stifling dissent; and David Axelrod, the president’s senior advisor, conceded that the administration had no evidence to support the president’s claim.

Nonetheless, Axelrod and the president stuck to their guns by suggesting the Chamber “may have” violated U.S. laws. Axelrod asked, “do you have any evidence it is not [true]?”

Overlooked by most members of the press corps were the questionable contributions to the Obama campaign on foreign credit cards, a claim that had more than a semblance of hearsay.

Atlas Shrugs to the rescue.  Pamela Geller uncovered everything in this article, Obama’s Contributions: Foreign and Domestic

It seems that the president is trying find a political argument wthat has traction. Allegations against the Chamber fall into the category of a populist denunciation of big business, even though Democratic operatives are assuring job-generating corporations they are on their side, and reciients of bailouts posted record bonuses this year.

Senator Al Franken

With Senator Al Frankin calling for a Federal Election Commission probe, a campaign is being launched despite the lack of evidence. The Democratic National Committee released an ad castigating the Chamber as “shills for big business.” Of course, the purpose of the Chamber — what it was organized to do — is to represent business interests.

The underlying issue, the one that has a chilling effect on campaigns, is the unleashing of government power to silence political opponents.

By any standard, this presidential claim is an abuse of power that should be condemned by every member of the media.

President Obama insists through indirect assertions that “you don’t know. It could be the oil industry. It could be the insurance industry. It could even be foreign owned corporations. You don’t know because they don’t have to disclose.” Indeed since you don’t know, it could be the tooth fairy. This is an example of the Cicero gambit: As you do not have any facts on which to rely, make speculative arguments especially with reference to unpopular entities such as the oil and insurance industries.

The Supreme Court’s ruling in the Citizens United case allows organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce to advertise for and against candidates of their choice and to accept anonymous donations in order to do so. President Obama indicated he does not support the Court’s decision, but like it or not, it is the law of the land.

(Of course, we will never forget the moment …)

The fact that the questionable claims have become an issue may be an effort to shift concern from jobs and the precarious nature of the economy to campaign practices. But without evidence, and with the arrogant display of political power, this stratagem has backfired on the president and the Democratic Party.

Can the president dig his way out of this matter before November and convince voters that he will not abuse the power of this office?

On election day the answer will be clear.

Congressman Charlie Rangel Charged With Ethics Violations

From Canada Free Press

Rep. Rangel charged with Ethics Violations

By Jim Kouri  Friday, July 23, 2010

After dragging its feet for almost two years, a House investigative committee yesterday charged New York Congressman Charles B. Rangel with multiple ethics violations. Rep. Rangel had already been removed as the House Ways and Means Committee chairman.

The investigating panel did not announce the exact charges against the long-time Democrat lawmaker, who has served in the House of Representatives for more than 40 years.

The panel of four congressmen selected from the House ethics committee sent the case to a House trial, where an eight-member panel of Republicans and Democrats will decide whether the violations can be proved.

Rangel replied to the news in a press statement: “I was notified today, two years after I requested an investigation, that the Ethics Committee will refer the allegations reviewed by an investigations subcommittee to a subcommittee that will review the facts. I am pleased that, at long last, sunshine will pierce the cloud of serious allegations that have been raised against me in the media.”

Rangel’s reign of corruption

In March 2010, Rep. Rangel, the top Democrat responsible for tax laws in the U.S. Congress, was found “guilty” of accepting Caribbean junkets from a private corporation, an act that violates the House of Representatives’ ethics rules.

However, most of the mainstream media organizations were slow to carry the news stories of Rangel’s reign of corruption and even slower to investigate the allegations that seem to point to a career built on crime, corruption and political posturing.

On the same day in March 2010 that the House Ethics Committee ruled that Rangel’s actions were improper, he was attending a meeting with President Barack Obama and lawmakers from both parties at a health care summit.

While other members of the Congressional Black Caucus were under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for similar lobbyist-paid trips in 2007 and 2008, all were exonerated by the panel, according to a source on Capitol Hill.

“Rangel is not the kind of person to give up easily. He’s been a congressman representing a district in New York that includes Harlem and Washington Heights for 30 years and he possesses a reputation as a fighter,” said political strategist Mike Baker.

Others were less kind in their remarks. For instance, a former New York City police detective claims Rangel was a Democrat Party hack in the Big Apple, who “carried the bags for the boys downtown.”

“As a young detective, I had to straighten out Charlie [Rangel] while he was working as a defense attorney and ran errands for some of New York’s more despicable characters,” said former NYPD detective Sid Frances, now owner of a Harlem-based security firm.

Ironically, Rangel achieved his chairmanship when he and other Democrats took control of the House in 2006 after using campaign slogans and talking-points that characterized Republicans as denizens of a “culture of corruption.”

So, Madam Speaker, is this what you call the most honest and ethical congress in history??

Shame! Shame! Shame!

Congressman Rangel Gets Bent Out Of Shape Because MSNBC’s Luke Russert (son of Tim) Asks A Hard Question

When you listen to this dialogue between Luke Russert and Congressman Rangel, you realize how arrogant Rangel really is.  He is ridiculous.

Did you get that?  In other words, Rangel is saying to Russert, “How dare you act like a REAL journalist and ask me a hard question!”  Rangel just confirmed to all of us that the socialist Democrats don’t expect to get hard questions from the Lame Stream Media.  Because Russert asked a legitimate question, Rangel took it as disrespect.  Can you believe he said that?

I’m also surprised he did not recognize Russert.  He probably thought this was FOX News getting in his face again,

Bravo Luke!  You’re a chip off the old block.  Your father (the late Tim Russert of Meet The Press)

Tim Russert

would be so proud of you.

Are You Paying Attention? HHS Says Every American Must Have Electronic Health Records By 2014!

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. (AP Photo/Haraz N. Ghanbari)

God help us!!  This means that the government will have access to any health record it wants for any reason it may have.  Who’s going to stop them?  Obamacare will be enforced with the power of the IRS! Government will have complete control over our lives.  No, we can’t wait until 2012 to get rid of Obama – we have to start in 2010.   As I said, “God Help Us”

CNSNews.com is reporting this:

New Regulations Outline Content, Transmission Standards for Every Americans’ Electronic Health Records

Friday, July 16, 2010
By Matt Cover, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – New regulations issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Tuesday outline federal standards for the electronic health records that every American must have by 2014.

The regulations, developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and issued by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, are the first concrete step for the government as it pursues the goal – first outlined in the 2009 economic stimulus law – of making all health care providers use the electronic record systems by 2014.

If doctors or hospitals do not comply and insist on using the traditional paper record-keeping systems, the federal government will penalize them by docking their Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, making it harder for them to stay in business.

If doctors or hospitals do not comply and insist on using the traditional paper record-keeping systems, the federal government will penalize them by docking their Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, making it harder for them to stay in business.

If they choose to comply with the government’s plan, doctors and hospitals can receive generous federal subsidies – as much as $64,000 per doctor and millions of dollars for hospitals – as an incentive for installing the systems.

According to Michael Tanner, a senior fellow and health care reform expert at the free-market Cato Institute, “just 17 percent of U.S. physicians are currently using electronic medical records for their patients,” and for hospitals, “just 9.1 percent have even a basic system, and just 1.5 percent have a comprehensive system.”

Where the electronic record systems do exist, moreover, they are often incompatible among many hospitals and physicians. “The unavailability and incompatibility of electronic medical records contributes to the unnecessary deaths of up to 8,000 people each year because of medication errors,” reported Tanner in a 2009 report

The new regulations unveiled this week spell out what the government considers a “complete” electronic health record (EHR) and what it considers “meaningful use” of such records. To comply with federal requirements, doctors and hospitals must make meaningful use of qualified EHR systems.

Under the new regulations, a complete EHR must be able to perform 25 distinct functions relating to what information can be entered into the record and how that record can be shared with other health care providers and, in some cases, the federal government.

The EHRs are designed to be digital replications of the hard-copy, paper health records commonly in use today. They are also engineered to be easily transferable among different doctors and hospitals so as to eliminate the creation of duplicate or disparate records among different health care providers, thus allowing any health care office to access a patient’s complete medical record at each visit.

Among the content required for a complete EHR is an active medications list, vital signs, Body Mass Index (BMI) score, smoking status, comparative effectiveness data, lab test results, and insurance status. They must also record race, gender, and preferred language of patients, as well as send reminders to patients about follow-up visits and at-home care where applicable.

A complete EHR must also include a list of all past health problems, their causes, and the procedures used to treat or cure them.

The HHS envisions three stages of EHR use over time, with each stage further incorporating EHRs into the practice of medicine by 2014. The new regulations leave stages two and three undefined while the technology develops.

During stage one, EHR systems must demonstrate basic capabilities, such as transmitting public health data, checking for drug interactions, and maintaining an up-to-date list of illnesses, procedures, and treatments for 80 percent of patients.

The EHRs must also allow doctors to electronically prescribe medications as well as maintain an active list of medications taken by each patient, checking for both drug and allergic reactions for each medication.

To meet the meaningful use requirement in stage one, providers must meet at least 20 of the 25 total criteria.

They must also be portable and easily transferable between providers, in both walk-in and inpatient settings. The regulations state that records must be electronically transmittable between health care providers and emergency personnel.

However, as a CMS spokesman told CNSNews.com, due to technology infrastructure limitations, the EHRs will not have to be fully transmissible in stage one.

“Recognizing that the infrastructure for health information exchange varies across the country, the rule does not require this [transmissibility] in stage one,” said the spokesman in an e-mail.  “The rule only requires one test of this capability, not continual use.”

The EHRs must also be encrypted and they must be sent over encrypted Internet connections. Access to EHRs must be tightly controlled and the EHR systems must record and save the identity information of each person who accesses the record, what information they accessed, and when they accessed the record.

The EHR systems must also record each time an EHR is updated, who updated it, and what portions of the EHR were changed. The EHR system must also be able to check for and alert providers if records are changed in any way during transmission.

An EHR system must also be able to provide individual patients with an electronic copy of his or her medical record within three business days, if the patient requests it.

Citizen News Reports Obama Is Guilty Of Chicago Pay To Play Corruption

Citizen Wells reports

Citizen News Reports July 6, 2010, Obama is guilty of Chicago pay to play corruption

Citizen News Reports July 6, 2010, Obama is guilty

Do your friends, family and associates know this?

The following was posted on the blog this morning by megan.

“I thought it might be interesting to look at Obama’s timeline in setting up the Health Facilities Planning Board and how he benefitted from it (well, before money was traced back to him anyway and allegedly donated to charity.)

Personally, I think we should demand that any politician that donates corrupt funds should be required to note what charity those funds were given to, so it can be verified and the organization can be checked to ensure it’s a valid charity with a clean record.

January – August 2003 – Obama was Chairman of the Senate HHS Board…just long enough to get the corrupt board in place for Rezko/Blagojevich.

He pushed Senate Bill 1332 “Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act” – which reduced Board members from 15 members to only 9 members…this is what made it possible for Rezko to have control over the board’s voting.

The bill was filed February 20, reviewed February 27th and Obama sent word that the bill should be passed by March 13th. On May 21, 2003, House and Senate passed the bill. The only Senator with “Yes” vote mentioned during the Rezko trial was Obama. Another change that Obama made in the bill was to remove the power to appoint board members from the board itself and give it to the Governor (Blagojevich).

Blagojevich then made the effective date of the bill – JUNE 27, 2003 after already having lined up the corrupt board members to fill it. Maybe it’s just an odd coincidence that Obama got TONS of donations from recently appointed board members on JUNE 30, 2003…only 3 (THREE) days after Blagojevich made this corrupt board “legal”?

On June 30, 2003…

Obama gets $5000 after Ali Ata was appointed as Director at IFA

Obama gets $6000 after Alison Davis gets appointment on Investment Board

Obama gets $15,000 after Dr. Michael Malek gets appointment on Hospital Facility Board

Obama gets $5000 after Abdelhamid Chaib’s wife gets appointment on Employee Security Board

Obama gets $10,000 from Elie Maloof – Rezko used him as one of several strawmen to donate funds to certain politicians.

Obama gets $1000 after Phil Cacciatore (one of Auchi’s Riverside Park Investors) gets seat on Board

Obama gets $1000 after Velma Butler (one of Auchi’s Riverside Park Investors) was recommended for Board

Obama gets $1000 after Martello Pollack (Vegas Crystal Comm) received Iraqi Construction contracts

Obama gets $1000 after Jack Carriglio gets appointed to Board

Obama gets $500 (with an additional $1250 the following year) after Anthony Abboud gets appointed to Board

Obama gets $3000 from Michael Winter, who helped Rezko in funneling kickbacks through investment firm

Obama gets $1000 after Talat Othman gets appointed to Board

Obama gets $1000 from both David Gustman and another $1000 from Gustman’s wife after he is appointed Board Chairman

But no….I’m sure it’s ALL JUST A COINCIDENCE, right??

Also…had to laugh when Wright was complaining again about rich white folk – how much is that mansion he’s living in again??”

No FBI-Obama Notes For Blago Defense

We need to remain aware of the fierce determination of the corrupt Obama slime machine to cover the ‘One’ at any cost.

Obama and Rod Blagojevich go back a long way – they are old political buddies.  ‘You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’ is their modus operandi.

This blogger lives is Chicago and believe me, we all know that Gov. Blagojevich is no more guilty than President Obama.

The frightening truth in our country now is:  How far will Patrick Fitzgerald, Eric Holder, and now Judge Zagel go to protect the president?  Ignore the law?

It is unbelievable that Judge Zagel has denied Blagojevich’s  defense access to a FBI interview of President Obama:

No FBI-Obama notes for the defense

reported by Blagojevich on Trial | Chicago Tribune | Blog

Rod Blagojevich’s lawyer, Sam Adam Sr., is laboring through prosecution objections to try to give the jury the idea that there could have been a lot of conversations about Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat between former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his senior staff that the jury won’t hear on undercover recordings.

When Obama won the Iowa caucus in January 2008, didn’t that give him unexpected momentum or “the big mo?” Adam asked former Blagojevich chief of staff John Harris. Surely, there were conversations then about the fact that the governor could have to make a Senate pick, he asked. Harris said there were just a few.

Adam tried to ask the same question about when Hillary Rodham Clinton withdrew from the presidential race as well as when the Democrats held their convention in August 2008, but Assistant U.S. Atty. Carrie Hamilton objected and Judge Zagel sustained those objections.

Harris had testified that the first substantive conversation in which Blagojevich asked what he personally could get for the Senate seat was in October 2008 on a car trip to Northwestern University. Adam tried to ask whether every conversation Blagojevich had on the topic after that was in the presence of either Harris or the governor’s general counsel, William Quinlan, who Adam sometimes slips and calls Bill Clinton.

But Hamilton objected to that, too, at one point looking weary as she wiped a hand over her brow.

Blagojevich has remained still at the defense table, staring at his former chief of staff without smiling as the rest of his legal team sorts through papers.

–Jeff Coen

What happened to Disclosure?  The reason the FBI interviewed Obama was because of the attempt to sell his Senate seat, therefore,  any discussion they had with Obama would is pertinent to the case since his staff was involved in talking to Blagojevich about who would become the next senator from Illinois.  Blagojevich has been made the fall guy.

Sing louder, Blago, sing!  We know you have all the music in your head.

WHOA, NOT SO FAST!! This does not work with FOX Cable News, who happens to be Public Enemy No. 1 with the White House…….

yes, that is Rahm Emanuel, White House Chief of Staff, can you believe it?  then there’s this…..

David Axelrod is Senior White House Adviser.  Let me get this straight – Obama has CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, MSNBC, NPR and CNN in his back pocket – but he’s not happy because FOX is not willing to give up their right to FREEDOM OF THE PRESS  for him!!

Where is the outrage?  How much more of this nonsense will we take?

This is CHICAGO STYLE SWAMP POLITICS, folks!  Wake up!  I love you Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity – keep the heat on this corrupt administration.  You speak for us.

White House Urges Other Networks to Disregard Fox News

Senior Obama administration officials took to the airwaves Sunday to accuse Fox News of pushing a particular point of view and not being a real news network.

Monday, October 19, 2009

The White House is calling on other news organizations to isolate and alienate Fox News as it sends out top advisers to rail against the cable channel as a Republican Party mouthpiece.

Top political strategists question the decision by the Obama administration to escalate its offensive against Fox News. And as of Monday, the four other major television networks had not given any indication that they intend to sever their ties with Fox News.

But several top White House officials have taken aim at Fox News since communications director Anita Dunn branded Fox “opinion journalism masquerading as news” in an interview last Sunday.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN on Sunday that President Obama does not want “the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox.”

Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is “not a news organization.” (more)
